Haverford, PA. Haverford College is pleased to announce it has chosen the Kuali Financial System (KFS) as its new enterprise financial system. After an extensive selection process, the team at Haverford determined that KFS best met their needs and fit well with their strategic direction for enterprise systems. The functionality of KFS was built for higher education, by higher education and serves the needs of a liberal arts college. In addition, the Kuali community that Haverford is joining provides a wealth of networking for best practices and ongoing enhancements.

According to Spencer Golden, Haverford's Director of Enterprise Systems, "Haverford is tremendously excited to leverage the Kuali System and Community to make truly meaningful improvements in our ability to manage and administer the college's financial well being." Joe Spadaro, Haverford's Chief Information Officer, added "As the first small liberal arts college to implement KFS and host it themselves on campus, Haverford looks forward to establishing best practices which can be modeled by other similar institutions in the future."

Haverford has chosen Navigator Management Partners, a Kuali Commercial Affiliate, as their implementation partner. Navigator Management Partners is a consultancy providing Project Management, Business Process Design, Technology Strategy, Packaged Software Implementation services, and Organizational Change Management for Higher Education and Public Sector institutions.

Haverford is planning a summer 2012 date for their "go-live" of KFS with the core modules of General Ledger, Transaction Processing, Contracts and Grants, and Procurement/Payables, and will then add modules in a phased approach over the following months.

Jennifer Foutty, Executive Director of the Kuali Foundation, stated: "We are pleased that Haverford College has made this choice. It demonstrates that the Kuali systems, which are developed for higher education, are designed for all sizes of colleges and universities. By partnering with Navigator, Haverford is combining the best of the community source approach, using open source software that doesn't require any licensing fees, with implementation support from a Kuali Commercial Affiliate with expertise in the software."

About Haverford College

Haverford College is a leading liberal arts college founded on the Quaker values of individual dignity, academic strength, and tolerance. It combines a rigorous academic program with an informal atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration among students, faculty and staff. Students approach work and study -- as well as debate and conflict -- with an awareness of the greater good. Haverford's Honor Code is one of the oldest in the country, and one of the only with a social dimension. It is one of only a few colleges or universities that expect and encourage all students to complete and defend a senior thesis, and its "need blind" financial aid policy means that it admits students -- and meets all demonstrated need -- regardless of a student's ability to pay.

The Kuali Foundation began in 2004 as a cooperative effort among partners and a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to develop an open source financial system and since expanded to encompass eight projects. The software developed by Kuali projects is available, without fee, for anyone to use or modify under the Educational Community License. See http://kuali.org for more information.
