Loughborough, England. January 22, 1998. In its continued quest to provide the highest level of service for its SydneyPLUS library automation system, International Library Systems has opened a U.K. subsidiary near Loughborough, England. SydneyPLUS uses now have direct access to ILS employees who can help them with service, sales, and product development issues.
ILS Personnel have already been in contact with their European clients to advise them of the change. The overall response has been extremely positive.
"We've been looking forward to ILS's opening an office in the UK for some time," says Wendy Foster of Brown & Root. "They have a great reputation for service in North America."
In addition to caring for their SydneyPLUS clients, ILS UK has also assumed the responsibility for supporting the Soutron Library System. ILS was the original developer of that product, and recently acquired all modifications subsequently made to the software by Soutron.
"We believe it is in our clients' best interests that one company, ILS, be held accountable for all software maintenance and support duties," says Ron Aspe, President of ILS. "As the original developer of both systems, we are uniquely qualified. Of course, we also have a long-term, vested interest in seeing that the best possible job is done."
Joining ILS as manager of UK operations is David Harker, who has extensive experience with the library industry. Soutron users will likely recognize him from his previous work with Sydney Development Corporation and Sydney Limited.
"I'm pleased to be able to reestablish old relationships in the library community," Mr. Harker says. "My top priority is to ensure my clients get the most of their investment in ILS software and services."
