10/03/2011 - 08:33. The Illinois Heartland Library System LLSAP Working Group, after a month of discussion and evaluation, announces two top finalists for the Request for Information (RFI) for a replacement automation product. Those two finalists are Polaris and SirsiDynix Symphony.
Initially, 7 responses were received. Evaluations were performed independently by each member of the LLSAP Working Group, then tallied for final rankings. Functionality, price, scalability, and other important areas were considered by the committee in the evaluation process. The final rankings for the responses are available here.
The next phase of the work will involve member input and evaluation through in-person and online demos of the two products. It is expected that all staff of any LLSAP member library will be able to attend these demos and provide evaluation information. More information will be released about the schedule, location of demos, and evaluation process as it becomes available. Additional committees will be convened to help with in-depth evaluations of each product as well.
The LLSAP Working Group consists of the 4 LLSAP Managers (Joan Bauer - elCAT, Edie Elliott - Gatenet, Pat Boze - LINC, and Traci Edwards - SILNet) and 4 LLSAP Library Representatives (Diane Yeoman - elCAT, Jill Pifer - Gatenet, Miranda Shake - LINC, and Esther Curry - SILNet). The group is chaired by Leslie Bednar.
Please stay tuned for further announcements about this important process. If you have questions, please contact your LLSAP Manager or send an email to Pat Boze, email@example.com
