New York – July 19, 2011 – Impelsys, a global leader in providing electronic content delivery solutions, today announced iPublishCentral 3.1, an enhanced version of its award-winning software platform that enables publishers to sell and distribute digital content on the Web.
iPublishCentral is a full-service electronic publishing solution that allows publishers to publish, deliver, distribute and market eBooks. The platform gives publishers all the tools they need to manage and monetize their digital assets without making significant development investments on their own.
In iPublishCentral 3.1, the company has rolled out new features to improve the reading experience for end users. Specific enhancements include the addition of keyboard shortcuts, the ability to highlight text and save those highlights, and a new offline reader that comes with the same look and feel as the online reader.
The new version also includes refined tools to help publishers increase their revenues by regulating access to content. With iPublishCentral 3.1, publishers can now set the maximum number of concurrent users at a title level when selling eBooks to libraries and large institutions, can support authentication programs such as EZproxy and Athens in order to protect their content from outsiders, and enable search bots to better search for and discover books.
"We've developed a culture of continuous innovation and strive to improve our software platform every day," said Anil Gopinath, executive vice president of global engineering for Impelsys. "The new features in iPublishCentral 3.1 will not only provide publishers with greater control over their digital publishing strategy, but will also enrich the end-user experience for readers of eBooks."
In recent weeks, Impelsys has launched new eBook distribution platforms for McGraw-Hill, Encyclopaedia Brittanica and the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2011, one of the company's customers (Lerner Publishing Group) was recognized for the Best Literacy Website in the Early Elementary category of The ComputED Gazette's 17th Annual BESSIE Awards, and the iPublishCentral platform was recognized as one of the Top 8 SaaS-based Apps in NASSCOM's 2011 Product Showcase.
