ATLANTA, GA – May 2, 2011 – Nexidia, the leading provider of audio analysis and dialogue search technology for the media and entertainment industries, today announced that two products powered by Nexidia have been recognized for excellence by four top industry news sources.
Avid PhraseFind, which dramatically speeds the creative process by easily finding spoken phrases within media clips, was recognized for outstanding achievement in advancing the art and science of video production by two industry publications during the recent National Association of Broadcasters conference.
Avid PhraseFind was one of 20 products among hundreds exhibited to receive a Best of Show "Vidy" Award from Videography magazine. The Videography Vidy Awards is the longest-running NAB award program.
"Our teams searched the NAB show floor for products that were truly deserving of recognition," said Eric Trabb, vice president and group publisher of NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group, owner of Videography and TVTechnology. "Recognition with an award at NAB from the Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from this leading publication."
Avid PhraseFind also was awarded a coveted "STAR" by TVTechnology magazine as one of this year's "preeminent technological innovations."
With Avid PhraseFind, typing any word or phrase quickly and accurately finds and previews where that phrase is spoken in a project's media files, which dramatically reduces logging and transcription work and saves both time and money. Integrated directly into Avid Media Composer 5.5, Symphony 5.5, and NewsCutter 9.5, Avid PhraseFind currently supports North American English, U.K. English, Latin American Spanish, Dutch, German, Russian, and European French, with more languages to come. PhraseFind is often used as a companion to the award-winning Avid ScriptSync, also powered by Nexidia, which accelerates story creation by time-aligning takes to a script for preview and text-based editing.
"Nexidia technologies help content creators be more creative and let media owners unearth more value from their libraries," said Drew Lanham, Nexidia's senior vice president and general manager of media. "But bringing that value to market can require finding the right partners, and PhraseFind is an excellent example of what can happen when innovative technology is in the hands of an industry leader such as Avid."
Highlighting another of Nexidia's successful partnerships, the leading Web site for digital media professionals, Creative Communities of the World (Creative COW), awarded its top five-star award to AV3 Software's ‘Get' for Final Cut Pro designed and developed by Nexidia. Contributing Editor David Roth Weiss wrote: "Get is one of the essential tools that should be in the arsenal of every Final Cut Pro user." And DV Magazine, which gave AV3 Get their coveted Black Diamond Award for "Best of Show" at NAB in 2010, has recently recognized AV3 Get v1.1 with its Excellence Award and a 5-Diamond rating. Reviewer Oliver Peters notes that Get's usefulness "extends beyond the needs of an editor… Story editors, loggers and news reporters can all benefit from Get as a way to research and organize any dialogue-based media files."
Rounding out the list of recent accolades, Nexidia was invited to demonstrate its next-generation media technology at the NAB Post Pit by the Hollywood Post Alliance after the group voted it the "best technology demo" during the HPA Tech Retreat in February 2011.
