FireSign Makes Touchscreen Interactives Easier for Visitors and Administrators

Abstract: Anode, Inc. announced five new features for the company's proprietary FireSign(TM) Dynamic Digital Signage software platform. FireSign offers a library of digital signage and touchscreen applications that allow administrators to create passive messages, build touchscreen interactives and connect to external data management systems. 03.31.2011 - Anode, Inc. has announced five new features for the company's proprietary FireSign(TM) Dynamic Digital Signage software platform. FireSign offers a library of digital signage and touchscreen applications that allow administrators to create passive messages, build touchscreen interactives and connect to external data management systems.

Today, the company introduced five new updates that enhance five of FireSign's Touchscreen Applications. The two key updates are a new accessible navigation option and the ability for administrators to create their own attract loops.

Accessible Navigation

This new feature gives visitors with limited reach access to all interactivity on a touchscreen display by creating a secondary navigation option. When a visitor touches the handicap symbol that appears near the bottom of the screen, a strip of controls will slide out from the symbol. The numbers in the strip correspond to a set of buttons or touch areas on the screen and interface. Touching a number in the strip is the same as touching the corresponding numbered item on the interface.

"Up until today, accessible navigation has required custom programming," said Richard Bess, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Now any customer using our touchscreen applications can instantly make their interactive exhibits available to a greater number visitors with just the click of a mouse."

Attract Loop Builder

The attract loop has always been an effective way to encourage visitors to approach a touchsreen kiosk. A secondary benefit is that attract loops also prolong the life of displays by reducing the image retention that occurs when screen content is not refreshed. FireSign touchscreen application users may now build their own attract loops using any five images uploaded to their FireSign system. Administrators may then edit prompt text, modify on-screen elements and set the duration of the attract loop.

The new FireSign application enhancements continue to change the paradigm of traditional digital installations. "Once again, we have taken another step towards our goal of turning FireSign into a self-publishing platform for digital signage and touchscreen interactives," commented Chris Lee, Vice President of Technology. "These do-it-yourself features are allowing our core customer base of museums, schools and libraries to create and maintain sophisticated touchscreen visitor experiences that were previously out of their budgetary reach."
