VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – March 29, 2011- The 2011 ILLiad International Conference, presented by Atlas Systems, wrapped up on Friday, March 25th in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with more than 300 interlibrary loan professionals participating in the two day conference focused on trends and advancements in resource sharing. New product announcements from Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) and OCLC were among the conference highlights.

CCC provided a sneak peek of their new Get It Now service, which complements academic institutions' Interlibrary Loan (ILL) borrowing services by providing immediate fulfillment of full-text articles from unsubscribed journals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a single, cost-effective and easy-to-use application, integrated directly into a user's workflow. Get It Now will officially be introduced at the 2011 ACRL Conference in Philadelphia this week.

Copyright Clearance Center collaborated with a team at SUNY Geneseo to adapt Get It Now for use within the ILLiad Resource Sharing Management software via an Addon, allowing ILL staff to more easily purchase articles when borrowing is not the best option. In testing at initial pilot sites, the service filled requests in an average of three minutes (guaranteed delivery within 8 hours). More information about Get It Now is available at the CCC booth #526 at ACRL and www.copyright.com. Details on the Get It Now Addon are available at the Atlas Systems booth #653.

OCLC announced testing of enhancements that will allow WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) to make lending strings based upon libraries' item availability contained within WorldCat. They are also working on NCIP integration with integrated library systems to simultaneously check items in and out as they are updated in ILLiad/WCRS. OCLC is also looking at improving the Policies Directory to make it easier to create custom holdings groups and experimenting with bringing the Policies Directory into ILLiad.

Throughout the ILLiad Conference, attendees heard presentations from resource sharing specialists providing practical information on a wide range of topics including marketing, increasing productivity, enhancing service, and using ILL data for management purposes. The 2012 conference will be held in Virginia Beach March 21-23, 2012.
