Softlink will soon add to their portfolio a new version of Library Management Systems – the highly anticipated Liberty v5! Built upon the existing functionality of previous versions, v5 offers a streamlined and intuitive interface for ease of use and increased productivity.
New features include: a new look OPAC, an enhanced circulation desk, faceted search, powerful search engine with best match searching, new OPAC enrichments, and more.
Liberty v5 was developed as a result of extensive consultation with libraries worldwide to create a streamlined and intuitive library experience for staff and users. The system runs on a powerful SQL database, is completely web based and can be accessed from any location.
Softlink is working with third party specialists to bring a number of integrated enhancements into v5 including: book reviews and recommendations, author videos, book cover images, and federated search – all integrated into the library's OPAC.
"We have listened to feedback on what libraries would find useful for managing their resources, and integrated these features into Liberty," says Mr Dion Dias, Softlink's Product Manager.
"The new system allows for the greatest interoperability between other systems and databases so that they can be accessed from a single point of entry, saving time and boosting efficiencies for library operations."
The official release date will be announced at the end of 2010.
