Relais International is pleased to announce that four libraries from the Linnea2 Consortium, a group of 17 Finnish Universities and 7 other organizations in Finland, have signed a contract to implement Relais ILL. The 4 libraries, Aalto University, National Repository Library, Oulu University, and the University of Lapland, will pilot the system this year. The National Library of Finland is coordinating the pilot process.
Initially Relais ILL V2009 will be installed, but later this year they will migrate to V2010. The upgrade will allow the pilot libraries to use NCIP for circulation interoperability with their respective Voyager integrated library systems. Users can initiate requests from their home library’s OPAC, or from Linda, the Linnea union catalogue, or from their portal, Nelli. Mediated and unmediated requesting is supported for both returnable and non-returnable items.
Annu Jauhiainen, Deputy Director of National Library Network Services at the National Library of Finland, says, "We are looking forward to being able to modernize our ILL workflows with Relais ILL. The new system also gives us a chance to enhance our ILL policies. The goal is to offer our customers equal access to information, with faster turnaround and lower costs."
Relais is developing interoperability with three Nordic document delivery systems (DanBib, Libris, and BIBSYS) to improve workflow for the Linnea2 libraries. The Relais system includes the scanning module and the ability to send and receive electronic documents within the consortium and outside the consortium.
Clare MacKeigan, COO of Relais International, says, "We are very pleased to be working with the Linnea2 Consortium in Finland. This is the first phase of the expanding role Relais International will play in helping Finnish libraries with creative resource sharing solutions".
