The library’s decision to implement RFID at its two busiest locations, with potential expansions at other locations, is based in large part on a strategic objective to keep pace with the high-tech expectations of one of the fast growing and most technology-oriented communities in the U.S.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – September 30, 2009 – Bibliotheca Inc., open RFID solutions partner of choice to 400+ libraries worldwide, announced that the Huntsville-Madison County (Ala.) Public Library will outfit its main library and Madison branch with Bibliotheca's RFID system, including book labels, Biblio StaffStations, BiblioGate VI security gates and Orion self-check stations. The library's decision to implement RFID at its two busiest locations, with potential expansions at other locations, is based in large part on a strategic objective to keep pace with the high-tech expectations of one of the fast growing and most technology-oriented communities in the U.S.

Ranked recently as the No. 1 U.S. city in 2009 by Kiplinger's Personal Finance and the No. 4 best city for recession recovery by Forbes, the Huntsville area economy is continuing to grow at a steady pace despite the overall national economic downturn. In fact, Huntsville's population growth has outpaced the rest of Alabama and the U.S. as a whole, due to the city's ability to attract high-tech workers from throughout the nation.

Similarly, U.S. News and World Report recently named the city of Madison as one of the 10 best places in the U.S. to grow up. Editors credited the city's strong schools, green spaces, family activities and low crime rates for its family-friendliness.

"It makes logical sense for Huntsville-Madison County Library, the largest circulating library in Alabama, to turn to RFID solutions to help meet the challenges of an annual circulation of 2.5 million items. Patrons living in a high-tech city expect fast, dependable service with the latest technology, and our BiblioChip RFID system has proven to exceed expectations time and time again," said Lamar Jackson, Bibliotheca president and CEO. "And choosing Bibliotheca makes perfect sense, as Huntsville is Bibliotheca's North American headquarters."

Jackson added, "Whether in Huntsville and Madison, Ala., Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, Calif., or Brookline, Mass., 2009 has shown a pattern of high-tech, forward-thinking communities recognizing the benefits of Bibliotheca RFID systems."
