The Library and Museum of Freemasonry (LMF), based at the Grand Lodge in London, England, selected the Q Series for an ambitious project to automate its library, archive and museum collections.
The LMF collections consist of a rich collection of books and journals as well as fascinating archive and museum collections. While the library's material types are not particularly suited for the standard MARC format, they can be well accommodated by other international standard "metadata" formats available.
The LMF will use the Q Series Open Q module to create archive records in ISAD(G) format and museum records in Spectrum format. The records will then be fully integrated with the the library's standard MARC book and journal records to create a truly integrated multimetadata multi-media catalog.
The Q Series Open Q module was designed specifically to provide libraries with an easy-to-use program to integrate their special non-MARC collections into their catalogs.
