San Francisco, CA and Toms River, NJ - 22 June 2009 ó MuseGlobal, the Smart Connector company and provider of award-winning content integration platforms worldwide, today announced a partnership with Specialty Systems, Inc., a company focusing on innovative information systems solutions to Federal, State and Local Government customers.

Specialty Systems, Inc. is partnering with MuseGlobal to provide the systems integration expertise to engineer law enforcement and homeland security applications built on MuseGlobalís MuseConnect, which provides federated search and harvesting technologies, with a growing library of more than 6,000 pre-built source connectors.

The applications resulting from this partnership will incorporate a new breed of unified information access allowing structured data from database sources; semi-structured data from spreadsheets, forms and XML sources; unstructured data from web sites, documents, email; and rich media such as images, video and audio information to be accessed simultaneously from internal databases and external sources. This information is gathered on the fly, and unified for immediate presentation to the requestor.

These applications will give law enforcement agencies and intelligence personnel the most current information available to maximize public safety. The products and services resulting from this partnership will deliver a substantial improvement in the capability of any law enforcement and homeland security agency to proactively analyze and anticipate risks to the public.

Specialty Systems has a 30 year history providing solutions for state and local government, which include systems for county sheriffís processing, criminal evidence tracking, temporary restraining orders, fire inspection, code enforcement, case management, and others which enable agencies to deliver improved services to their constituencies at increased speed and substantially reduced cost. MuseGlobalís MuseConnect, containing over 6000 pre-built connectors to sources, combined with Specialty Systemsí systems integration expertise will deliver a quantum improvement in searching both internal and external information through federated and harvesting technologies Ė serving the full spectrum of agencies from local police departments to federal intelligence specialists Ė all of whom contribute to our safety.

Emil Kaunitz, CEO of Specialty Systems stated: "We at Specialty Systems look forward to working closely with local and state law enforcement, emergency management and homeland security organizations to empower their personnel with the information which maximizes their effectiveness. The combination of Specialty Systems and MuseGlobal in working with these organizations will deliver a new class of capability which helps enable their efforts to keep us safe."

MuseGlobalís MuseConnect for Specialty Systems, Integrates Search Results on One Platform to Provide Integrated Solutions for Local and State Governments

In a typical law enforcement environment, mission-critical data is stored in a wide variety of information silos, including databases, repositories, legacy systems and servers. Officials, whether in the intelligence office, field or at a desk must query multiple search tools to access information, which not only requires them to jump from application to application but results in delays in information availability, low productivity and, most importantly, missing critical pieces of information.

For example, an officer needs to know immediately if a driver of a car pulled over for a driving offense has existing background detail which requires review before they are allowed to proceed. Does the individual have restraining orders, court orders, outstanding child support payments, are they wanted for routine questioning or are they on the terrorist watch list? Employing MuseConnect, Specialty Systemsí applications will provide this information on demand to those officers or to the beat officers using a handheld device.

Another example of capability allows intelligence personnel to harvest information from select sources. An example of use of this capability occurs where a vehicle is being sought for suspected involvement in criminal activity. Here, transaction information from automated toll collection databases is harvested for a specific interval of time and is cross-referenced to vehicle make, model, year and color, with this information compared to a suspicious activity or robbery report. Matches then identify vehicles to investigate for specific robberies or drug trafficking investigations.

"We recognized an opportunity to extend the reach of Specialty Systems to include a range of targeted, industry-specific data repositories and external services," said Thomas Gensch Executive Vice President, MuseGlobal. "With MuseGlobalís MuseConnect for Specialty Systems weíve made more data readily accessible, therefore providing best of breed products to Federal, State and Local agencies."
