IPSWICH, Mass. —May 26, 2009 — EBSCO Publishing and the creators of the readers’ advisory service, NoveList have released NoveList Select, which extends a library catalog by providing links to other books by leveraging NoveList content. NoveList and NoveList Plus are the most frequently used readers’ advisory resources, effectively connecting readers to their next book. NoveList Select helps avoid the dead end searches that occur when all copies of a book are checked out and provides readers with additional options for what to read next.

With NoveList Select, each recommendation is a live link to the library catalog allowing users to discover new books that meet their needs and that are sitting on their library’s shelves. The rationale for each recommendation is intuitively displayed providing information that allows users to understand why a particular title is being suggested.

This new catalog enrichment resource enables NoveList & NoveList Plus users to view a list of similar and recommended books from more than four million titles—right within the catalog. NoveList Select also adds links to Recommended Reading Lists, Author Read-alikes, Book Discussion Guides and additional feature content into the catalog results.

Duncan Smith, NoveList product manager, says NoveList Select adds additional information to all major library automation systems. "Library patrons turn to the catalog as a place to start and NoveList Select takes them beyond that one book they were looking for, back into the virtual stacks where they are able to discover the full depth and breadth of a library’s collection."

NextReads customers will also benefit from this new service since NoveList Select provides links from bibliographic records to the library’s newsletters and newsletter signup page. NoveList Select is available for all major integrated library systems.
