Kenny’s Bookshop in Galway signs up for Vubis Smart and Streamline
Major Irish book supplier to use Vubis Smart for managing its catalogues
Bristol, England – February 18, 2003 – Geac is pleased to announce that Kenny’s Bookshop, Galleries and Export Centre in Galway has today signed a contract to implement Vubis Smart, Geac’s latest Library and Information Management System, and Streamline, Geac’s ERP suite of applications. This combined solution provides Kenny’s with an integrated set of enterprise-wide applications to manage their unique business.
Kenny’s Bookshop and Galleries, established in 1940, is one of the Irish Republic’s premier suppliers of rare and second hand books to the academic market worldwide, exporting to 35 countries. Their 5,000 clients include major research libraries in the US such as Stanford University, Harvard, Yale and the Library of Congress, as well as other specialist bookshops and collectors.
Vubis Smart will provide Kenny’s with the ability to catalogue their 1,000,000 stock items to library standards, allow them to create collections and catalogues on any chosen topic, and provide powerful web retrieval capabilities for their customers’ Wants lists. It will also provide the driver database for web purchasing. Streamline will provide the Stock Management, Sales Ordering, Purchasing and Financial Management for all of the Kenny’s businesses.
Kenny’s worked closely with BSM, a leading Management and Technology Consulting company. "Geac was the only vendor from the eight we initially reviewed who could offer best-of-breed ERP and Library Management solutions," explains Connor Kenny, Kenny’s Managing Director. "Geac is also a solid presence in both of these market areas. And by offering an integrated solution at the right price, Geac showed that they understand our business and its unique requirements. For us they are very much a safe pair of hands."
"Kenny’s is significant for us in two ways" says Jon Brooks, Managing Director of Geac's Library Systems Division. "Following our success across mainland Europe with Vubis Smart it is exhilarating to see yet another Region achieving success with our new product. This is also the first example of a joint sale with the Streamline system demonstrating the synergies that exist between some of the Divisions of Geac and reflecting our desire to provide comprehensive solutions to our customers. Kenny’s choice underlines the flexibility of our latest Library Management System which will significantly enhance their 'shop window' at the same time as further automating administration."
