Geac Computers, Inc. delivered and installed a new SunFire V880 database server to the Outagamie-Waupaca Library System in Appleton, WI. OWLS is a regional library system serving a consortium of public libraries in a four county area of Northern Wisconsin. The SunFire V880 is one of Sun Microsystems newest, high performance servers.
Rick Krumwiede, OWLS Director, stated that he was "most pleased with the speed and professionalism of the Geac staff in completing the installation in less time than planned [and with] the performance of the V880 server".
The installation and database migration to SunFire V880 began on Sunday, December 15th and was completed by Geac staff by mid-afternoon on Monday. The new OWLS system was fully operational on Tuesday morning — one full day ahead of schedule.
