Blacksburg, VA – VTLS Inc. proudly announces its newest ILS customer, Queens Library in Jamaica, New York. Queens Library, with the largest circulation in the U.S.A. at nearly 23 million items loaned last year, serves 2.2 million people in New York City from its 62 public libraries, seven adult learning centers and two family literacy centers.

"We are thrilled that Queens Library has selected VTLS software as its initial step in creating its new library information platform. Normally an implementation for a library this size takes a year or more and it is remarkable that we were able to complete this project within six months. This is certainly a tribute to the strong partnership we have with the Queens Library staff," said VTLS President and CEO Vinod Chachra.

Using rapid deployment techniques, Queens Library went live with its custom version of the VTLS software within a six-month period, January to July 2008. The implementation was quite intricate -- requiring custom software, integration with many third-party systems, and the conversion and migration of vast data stores. Since excellent response time was a critical requirement at Queens Library, VTLS provided a full benchmark of the software to make sure that its speed and performance met the expectations of Queens Library as well as VTLS’ own high standards of quality.

"We really couldn’t find what Queens Library needed from any vendor or the open source community. We are impressed with VTLS’ underlying technology and commitment to meet our requirements. Queens Library and VTLS are working together as development partners to further enhance our next generation solution," said Thomas W. Galante, Queens Library Director.
