Abstract: LibLime announced that the Butte Silver Bow Public Library in Montana has selected a Koha Classic appliance solution for their next integrated library system.

ATHENS, OH--July 21, 2008-- LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that the Butte Silver Bow Public Library in Montana has selected a Koha Classic appliance solution for their next integrated library system.

Butte Silver Bow Public Library's collection of 65,000 items will be hosted on a server on site at the library. The Library has also contracted with LibLime for data migration and support on their Koha system.

"Butte chose Koha after months of research and comparison with other open and proprietary vendors of ILSs," says Director Lee Phillips. "A main reason we selected Koha is because of the potential to expand our catalog to include other Montana libraries in a consortial configuration."

"Home to the 'Richest Hill on Earth', Butte mines supplied the world all the copper it needed to light the industrial revolution at the beginning of the 20th century," continues Lee. "Now Butte Silver Bow Public Library will hopefully lead the way in Montana with the addition of the open-source ILS Koha and the expert support of LibLime."

"Butte Silver Bow Public Library hopes to be an innovator and example to other Montana lbraries on open-source ILSs and just what they can do with Koha," he adds.

Lee anticipates both library staff and users will love the book shelf feature and the enhanced content provided through Amazon--available free to users of Koha. This content includes: book covers, book reviews, and professionally written descriptions.

"We look forward to participating in the Koha community and becoming a library powered by open source. Why? Because information is power and the power should belong to all the people!"

About Koha

Since it was first put into production in early 2000, Koha has enabled new realities of open access, affordability, and free innovation for hundreds of libraries around the world. Koha has lived up to its name, which means 'Gift' in the Maori language of New Zealand. From the outset, many libraries understood the power of this gift. They downloaded it, they installed it, they changed it, and they contributed their solutions back to the library community.
