SYDNEY, Australia, April 20, 2005 - Geac (TSX:GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC) announced today that City of Swan Library Service in Perth, Western Australia (http://www.swan.wa.gov.au/library) has purchased Geacís Vubis Smart library automation system. The City of Swan becomes the first Australian public library customer for Vubis Smart, Geacís innovative library management system, which has gained considerable market acceptance in Europe and a foothold in North America over the past year.
"We're delighted that City of Swan Library Service has reaffirmed its relationship with Geac by committing to our Vubis Smart solution," said Garry Dohnt, Australian General Manager, Geac Library Solutions. "We see this as a milestone in Geacís rededication to serving the Australian libraries market, where much of our heritage lies, and where we believe considerable future success will reside, as well."
The City of Swan selected Vubis Smart to replace its existing Plus system. Vubis Smart not only supports the libraryís traditional databases but also facilitates storage of digital images and multi-media for the Cityís local history collection. These multiple databases of varying formats are searchable through a single search interface, which provides relevant links to other local and remote databases, online subscription databases and associated Internet links based on the search performed by the user.
"The City of Swan chose Vubis Smart for its rich functionality and flexibility, our long-term relationship with Geac, and the excellent support provided by Geac," said City CEO Eric Lumsden. "We feel that Vubis Smart will provide the necessary management and information access tools required by our patrons and staff well into the future."
