June 23, 2008 -- Emeryville, CA. Qatar University (QU) in Doha, Qatar, has selected the Millennium ILS and the integrated Electronic Resource Management module for complete management and presentation of the library's print and digital resources. In addition, the QU Library will implement Innovative's Courseware Integration for Blackboard, Single Sign-on, and Patron Update for sophisticated service within the campus technology environment.
"Millennium will give the QU community an experience that is up to their expectations and keeps pace with their increasingly complex requirements," says Sheikha Jabor Al Thani, the Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Qatar University. "With the integrated ERM module, we can provide high-tech information services that are available for their use whether they are physically in the university or off campus."
Part of Innovative's Patron Web Services product suite, Patron Update provides automated updating of user information from the registrar's office. "Through Patron Update, Millennium will communicate with our Banner®-driven student information system. In addition, the library is accessible through our University portal and Single Sign-on will make it easy for students to get to our services within that environment. Innovative's campus products are in line with of QU's overall unified digital campus (UDC) strategy."
The Library was also impressed with Innovative's performance in the worldwide library technology marketplace. Says Dr. Saif Al Sowaidi, Project Manager, "Innovative is very well known internationally for its library solutions; Millennium is used by hundreds of universities across the globe and is a proven leader."
For increased discovery power for users, QU has also purchased Research Pro federated search, Web Bridge LR link resolver for quick access to full-text electronic articles, and Pathfinder Pro in-context resource suggestions. Library users will also receive RSS feeds of new library materials from Innovative's Feed Builder product. Because QU classes are conducted in Arabic and English, the library will provide access through Innovative's WebPAC Pro in both languages.
