Emeryville, CA -- February 28, 2008. The Maxwell Library at Ohio Christian University has selected the Millennium integrated library solution and will participate in OhioLINK, a consortium that provides access to over 46 million items to the state's students and faculty. OhioLINK is powered by Innovative's INN-Reach direct consortial borrowing system.
"Millennium will offer features we'll love like tracking patrons' interactions with the library more easily and in more detail, sending out circ notices by email, and delivering patron-initiated features that make it easy for users to get to our services," says Library Director David Tipton. "In acquisitions and cataloging, Millennium will give us the chance to change our processes so they work best and not be held back by the software. We need the software to help us focus on what we need to accomplish—supporting our patrons."
Ohio Christian is the fastest-growing four-year Christian Biblical institution in the nation. Says Tipton: "Because we are adding new curricula and students, we're in the process of making a gigantic step into the future in library services and technology. Since 2001, we've doubled our collection and gone from a few hundred circs a month to a peak of over 2,000. Our reference desk has also been more active and on track to reach our goal of 6,000 interactions this year."
Increased resource sharing with the INN-Reach-powered OhioLINK will be another response to campus growth. Says Tipton: "OhioLINK will be a whole new world for our users. We'll have millions of items available to our students, which is an order of magnitude difference for our campus. At present standard interlibrary loan can costs us up to ten dollars a transaction. Turnaround time for books is going to be a lot faster and cost-per-use will be less expensive because of INN-Reach."
