Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest Company, today introduced the new Serials Solutions 360 Core brand. Formerly marketed as AMS, 360 Core is an integral part of the Serials Solutions® 360 family of e-resource access and management services, and is the basic e-journal access and management service offered both as a standalone product and included with all other 360 services.
"When Serials Solutions introduced the "AMS" brand a few years ago, our goal was to emphasize that we offered more than an A-to-Z title list. AMS and the Serials Solutions knowledgebase became the core for all future development and enabled us to deliver the integrated 360 solution we offer today. The 360 Core brand replaces AMS to recognize the contribution this service provides to the 360 solution," says Jane Burke, General Maanger at Serials Solutions. 360 Core includes Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks, continues to provide basic access and management services, and is the core service provided with all 360 services.
360 Core provides a solid foundation on which libraries can build an e-resource collection and offer patrons a single point of entry to all e-journals. Through the A-to-Z Title List, E-Journal Portal, and Journal Linker, 360 Core directs patrons to electronic resources. Powerful title searching and subject browsing features provide a variety of options for access, all from Web pages that are branded to match the look and feel of the library's Web site.
360 Core delivers accurate and consistent results because it is powered by the industry-leading Serials Solutions® KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase. Serials Solutions' unique data collection and standardization process delivers the most accurate holdings data and best available URLs.
Using the Web-based tools offered in 360 Core, it is easy for libraries to add journals to local collections, evaluate holdings, and reduce acquisition costs. The Overlap Analysis tool helps quickly identify duplicated journals and do "what-if" scenarios prior to purchasing resources. The E-Catalog enables browsing of journal and database information throughout the KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase. Using 360 Core, libraries can also obtain detailed usage statistics to identify which databases and journals patrons use most.
