October 5, 2005 LIB-IT GmbH, Pleidelsheim (Germany) and b.i.s. GmbH, Krefeld (Germany) are pleased to announce the signing of a long-term "Strategic Alliance". As a result, LIB-IT can now integrate the very powerful b.i.s. interface-management system into the FILERO system architecture, thus allowing FILERO customers to unlock even more information held in individual applications and turn this information into a shared, enterprise-wide resource. As a FILERO partner, b.i.s. will now be able to utilize their many years of experience in the complex field of interfaces and system integration in conjunction with FILERO to fulfill their customers' desires for Enterprise Application Integration.
Jeremy Causley, Chairman of LIB-IT says: "We are very happy about the strategic alliance with b.i.s., as FILERO will now have an "intelligent middleware" – the FILERO Integration Tool (FIT) – which will form not only the backbone for the technical connection between FILERO and the relevant applications, but also takes into account the operational and business requirements of ERP, SCM, CRM and E-Business systems. Instead of individually programming each interface and integrating it into one of the systems involved, all of the interfaces are realised in a central system and managed, documented and checked for dependencies by a central interface manager. By combining the FIT technology with FILERO we have set a new standard in the EIMS market for organsiations wanting to maximise their existing IT investment."
Bernd Austmeyer, CEO of b.i.s. GmbH explains: "With FILERO we expand our range of market opportunities in the EIMS sector and thus can quickly build on our already well-established reputation in this growth market. We see four specific business opportunities for FILERO combined with b.i.s. technology for today's integration projects:
- New systems have not yet replaced legacy systems
- The need to consolidate and globalise
- The search for increased productivity
- Requirement for web-centric systems
FILERO offers a complete web-based Enterprise Information Management System (EIMS) with solutions for:
- Storage, archiving, scanning, managing, searching, issuing, tracking and auditing of all kinds of information, and includes

- Content Integration
- Knowledge Management
Functionalities and immediate benefits of FILERO for b.i.s. and its customers are:
- Combining all available sources into a central EIMS
- Full text search and retrieval for all standard document formats e.g. PDF, DOC, E-Mail
- Access to central information sources incl. full control on access rights
- Tracking of version changes
- Browser based, single point of content access
- Available for all common server platforms and network environments without a need to change existing IT infrastructure
About LIB-IT GmbH:
The LIB-IT GmbH was founded in April 1996 with the aim of offering innovative system solutions for the storage and searching of structured and unstructured data by the use of modern object-oriented database technology – at affordable prices.
In addition to the automation and equipment of libraries of all types and sizes with the latest information technology with LIBERO, LIB-IT markets FILERO, a web-based integrated Enterprise Information Management System (EIMS), that supports thousands of users.
LIB-IT GmbH is a global system supplier, with both LIBERO and FILERO being multilingual and Unicode-compatible and thus capable of fulfilling the wide-ranging demands of international companies. At present more than 450 systems have been installed world-wide in widely differing network environments and on the majority of current hardware platforms
As a system integrator, the b.i.s GmbH offers comprehensive services and consulting primarily in the field of Linux and OpenSource Software. As a Stratus-partner b.i.s also delivers continuously available products, services and solutions with unmatched operational simplicity providing a compelling financial advantage
Over the past few years a new focal point for b.i.s has emerged – interface systems – and the b.i.s interface manager, b.i.s- ISy, representing an investment of many man-years in development, has already gained a good reputation among their customers.
b.i.s- ISy is Java-based and system-independent, also contains a prototyping function and is independent of platform. Thanks to its XML-basis it is not proprietary and faces a secure future.
Instead of individually programming each interface and integrating it into one of the systems involved, all of the interfaces are realised in a central system and managed, documented and checked for dependencies by a central interface manager.
An additional benefit for the users and DP specialists is its easy usage, as it requires neither separate programming nor scripting. In fact, interface models are generated with Drag & Drop via a graphical surface. As a further feature, a freely configurable set of rules is used. This is similar to a table, and shows how data to be processed from an application are to be treated and displayed.
