"We've had experience beta testing products with Innovative in the past," says Elizabeth M. Salzer, University Librarian at Santa Clara University. "Each time our staff was provided with the opportunity to be in on the development of a product at an early stage and to help shape the final design. Ultimately, our staff has a chance to stretch and try something new and our users benefit as well."
"Encore has the look and feel that our students and faculty are accustomed to using every day. Our library will be moving into a new building next spring; and this seemed like the perfect time to move our catalog to a more user-friendly interface. By selecting a product from a vendor with whom we have an established relationship, we also hope to make this transition as seamless as possible."
University of Nevada, Reno
University of Nevada, Reno has been working with Innovative technology since the early 1980s. "Our experience with the company has been excellent and we can always count on Innovative to meet any commitments they have made to us," says Carol Parkhurst, Senior Director, University of Nevada, Reno Libraries. "The Encore development partnership is an opportunity to help shape this new product as it moves forward. We love the look and flexibility of the Encore user display. It will be easier and more rewarding for our patrons to use than what they have encountered at libraries in the past."
Making immediate requesting functionality part of the environment is a priority in Encore 2.0 development, already underway. As part of this effort, Santa Clara University and University of Nevada, Reno will be working to integrate seamless requesting from their Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) into Encore. Both sites will be using ASRS software from HK Systems, Inc., in Salt Lake City.
