Abstract: EOS International announced the implementation of an EOS.Web solution to maximize the resources of a large health sciences consortium in Missouri, the Health Sciences Library Network of Kansas City Consortium. The five year project, to begin with eight libraries, may eventually benefit all thirty-four libraries into a larger consortium, allowing individual libraries to pool and access their collective information resources.

Carlsbad, CA (November 30, 2007): Industry-leading EOS International announces the implementation of an EOS.Web solution to maximize the resources of a large health sciences consortium in Missouri, the Health Sciences Library Network of Kansas City Consortium (HSLNKC). The five year project, to begin with eight libraries, may eventually benefit all thirty-four libraries into a larger consortium, allowing individual libraries to pool and access their collective information resources.

A conference in April of 2007 initiated the implementation process, following an EOS.Web presentation on medical library automation and information management. Librarian at Olathe Medical Center and the Secretary of the HSLNKC consortium, Richard Kammer, recognized the potential for a larger scale impact by using EOS.Web as a library automation solution for the individual libraries and as a consortium-wide, networked solution to allow collection sharing across the HSLNKC. The original project grew into a consortium deal with up to thirty-four libraries participating in the solution. The current phase of the EOS.Web solution is implemented throughout the HSLNKC with a Z39.50 Information Sharing Gateway that allows each participating member search capability for both their collection, and the wider consortium collection.

"This project offered a significant impact on patient outcomes in our coverage area, in that the Z39.50 provides immediate review of the texts and other information media in the local area," says Kammer. "Electronic documents will be immediately available and otherwise dormant texts will move quickly to those who need them. Having the EOS product widely used in the local group makes for strong support opportunities, strengthens our skills and improves Network services."
