Old Brookville, NY, February 2, 2005 — The City of San Diego Public Library today launched its One-Search federated search solution enabling patrons to search the Library's vast catalog resources and 73 online databases simultaneously with a single intuitive interface. SDPL One-Search, powered by WebFeat, will be available to the public at the Central Library and all 34 branch libraries located throughout San Diego. It may also be accessed remotely through the Library's website (http://www.sandiego.gov/public-library/) by persons with a valid San Diego Public Library card.
One-Search allows patrons to search all of San Diego Public Library's catalog and databases or to narrow their research by specific criteria. "We are very excited to once again improve services for the public through cutting-edge technology," said Anna Tatár, director of the San Diego Public Library. "One-Search offers library patrons the ability to easily search the library's collections and find the information they need."
With the launch of One-Search, the San Diego Public Library joins the ranks of other major metropolitan libraries—such as the Chicago Public Library, Boston Public Library and the Los Angeles Public Library—that are currently using WebFeat systems. The San Diego Public Library is among the first major public libraries to include WebFeat's latest product features—including thesauri, save search, and dynamic results display capability—in its federated search solution.
"We are very pleased to have had a role in the development and launch of San Diego Public Library's One-Search," commented Todd Miller, President of WebFeat. "One-Search brings an exciting, state-of the-art search tool to the city of San Diego."
