Abstract: The Infoworks Spelling Checker for OCLC from Infoworks Technology Company is evaluated in an academic library, a memory-resident program to find spelling errors in OCLC records prior to downloading into a local system. It checks fields 100 - 200, 360, 400 - 830, 852, 900 - 930, and 940 - 990. In checking the title, subject, and note fields, the reviewer found that the program does just what it promises. Although the list of substitute words is somewhat erratic, the program can be a highly effective weapon in bibliographic quality control.
