Abstract: The Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI) is pleased to announce a new OpenURL link with TDNet, a leading supplier of electronic resource management solutions. This link allows easy access to CISTI's Document Delivery service for TDNet users.

Ottawa, June 7, 2005 The Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI) is pleased to announce a new OpenURL link with TDNet, a leading supplier of electronic resource management solutions. This link allows easy access to CISTI's Document Delivery service for TDNet users.

"Through OpenURL linking, CISTI is working to achieve its goal of seamless access to scientific, technical and medical information for its clients worldwide," said Bernard Dumouchel, Director General, CISTI. Outbound and OpenURL links to CISTI can now be activated from most online information services, link resolvers and library systems.

Michael Markwith, President of TDNet, Inc., said," Through the OpenURL link to CISTI, TDNet users can order articles directly from CISTI for journals that are not part of their own collection based on the extensive collection of licensed titles managed by TDNet. By automating the article ordering process, library staff and users of TDNet products have more time to focus on working with information, not searching for it."

OpenURL-enabled linking allows libraries to create links from a source (e.g. a citation) targeted to the needs of their end-users. Clients benefit from using OpenURL because they can be sure they are receiving the most up-to-date order forms and information from CISTI. There is no need to program forms based on CISTI-defined formats or update these programs each time CISTI makes a change.

Links to CISTI are usually set up or activated from an information service's administrator module or interface. For more information, please consult CISTI's web site at: http://cisti-icist.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/docdel/linking_e.html.
