White Bear Lake, MN –August 21, 2007 – The Jasper County Public Library (IN) will provide patrons with the convenience of Tech Logic's Combo Station self-checkout system.
The library will install barcode-based self-checkouts at each of its three libraries (Rensselaer, DeMotte, and Wheatfield libraries).
"Utilization of self-checkout is a means to fulfill the needs and expectations of our technologically astute library users," Jasper County Public Library Director Patty Stringfellow said. "Today's libraries are adapting operations to meet the technology expectations of their users. Patron self-service has become a powerful tool in reallocating library resources to new media and information technology. It represents the latest in library service. Both patrons and staff will benefit from the technology that will allow the Jasper County Public Library to offer this new service in 2008."
"This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act administered by the Indiana State Library," Ms. Stringfellow noted.
The Combo Station self-checkout system includes CircIT software, which allows library staff to customize screens that encourage patrons to take full advantage of self-checkout. The station resides near the library circulation desk, enabling library staff to easily assist patrons if needed.
The Jasper County Public Library uses TLC's Library.Solution ILS, and serves over 27,000 users.
