July 12, 2007 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative announced today that Release 2007 of Electronic Resource Management and Content Access Service, CASE, will provide new ease and sophistication to the process of e-collection development and online service. Now in its fourth release, the market-first Innovative ERM is installed in over 200 libraries worldwide in both stand-alone configurations and as an integrated module of the Millennium integrated library technology platform. CASE was introduced to the library marketplace in 2005.
2007 Innovative ERM Pays Dividends for Collection Management
Innovative continues its aggressive development of the Innovative ERM with new features in 2007 that make resource allocation and service decisions easier and more effective. For example, by leveraging its sophisticated metadata on patron usage of e-journal packages direct from the Innovative ERM, library staff can tell which titles in a given package are most popular. An easy-to-understand graph lets staff know which packages are of broad interest to users and which have more isolated pockets of usage.
"The Innovative ERM Release 2007 is moving libraries into a new era of e-resource problem solving," says Innovative Senior Product Manager, Ted Fons. "Libraries have used Innovative's ERM to solve the problem of administration and user access to e-resource data, and now they are using it to make sophisticated judgments about which e-resources serve their patrons best, and how to allocate their database dollar to give them the best cut of resources possible."
"With Release 2006 having incorporated web-services transfer of usage data from multiple vendors without staff intervention, the current release gives staff the time to make better decisions with collection management functionality."
In 2007, Innovative renews its dedication to make implementing the e-resource solution libraries need as easy as using it. First, new Innovative ERM customers can expect their system to be pre-populated with over 600 default e-resource package records-encompassing thousands of commonly used titles. Each record includes core information: names and alternate names, scope of content note, matching number data and more, with room for library-specific data in the same record. Second, Innovative is boosting service to new Innovative ERM customers, offering a Quick Start guide from implementation services and a new training service.
Content Access Service (CASE) Enhanced for 2007
Content Access Service (CASE) provides a complete solution to e-resource coverage needs for libraries with coverage data, A to Z list, and MARC-record service. "With CASE, the experience of libraries using the Innovative ERM is exponentially better," says Fons. "By combining content and management, libraries can get down to the business of serving users without being bogged down with undue complexity."
In Release 2007, Millennium libraries subscribing to CASE will benefit from automatic coverage loads as soon as library staff update their journal holdings profile on the web-based CASE Profile Manager. This advance slashes the time necessary to properly represent their e-journal holdings when subscriptions or content change.
"We're proud that Innovative first created the first Electronic Resource Management system, which is the most sophisticated and reliable tool for handling e-resources," says Fons. "With the addition of CASE and other productivity tools, Innovative remains ahead of the pack and delivering more value than ever to its customers."
