Abstract: Innovative announced that Pratt Institute has selected the Millennium integrated library platform to keep library staff connected with their information environment and the faculty and students they serve. The library is migrating from a Dynix Horizon system maintained by SirsiDynix.

Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that Pratt Institute has selected the Millennium integrated library platform to keep library staff connected with their information environment and the faculty and students they serve. The library is migrating from a Dynix Horizon system maintained by SirsiDynix.

"Pratt Institute Libraries need a library technology solution that is easy enough to use that, with good training, the staff can take to the product and understand why it operates the way it does, and see the big picture of what goes on the library, " says Patricia Cutright, Director of Libraries. "How circulation, reference, cataloging, and the online catalog can be connected in Millennium pays dividends for our students and faculty with rich information and the intuitive searching capabilities offered by WebPAC Pro.

"It's a very, very sophisticated system that allows you to do anything—from report writing to linking to the bursar's office and other types of automated systems on campus. For example, when I need to download from the financial or student information system, Millennium is savvy-enough that I know it's a possibility. "

The Pratt Libraries staff are also committed to the potential of resource sharing to boost the level of service they provide their campus. Says Cutright: "Libraries need to consider the consortia model direction and Millennium positions us to take advantage. In the past I was involved with an INN-Reach system, the Orbis/Cascade Alliance (Oregon and Washington), and the Sage (formerly Pioneer) Library Consortium. I've had many good experiences with Innovative products and good relationships with Innovative staff. "

In addition to liberal arts, architecture, and fine arts programs, Pratt hosts the oldest library school in the United States.
