Blacksburg, VA. VTLS announced the thirtieth site to select VITAL, The Duke University Medical Center Library & Archives.
Duke Universit's Medical Center Archives plays a vital and important role in capturing institutional records and documents for the Medical Center to ensure their future availability for administrators, researchers, and scholars. The collections consist of the administrative records of Duke University Medical Center departments and personal papers of individuals affiliated with Duke University Medical Center, the Duke University Health System, School of Medicine (including the Allied Health Educational Programs, and Area Health Education Center Program), and the School of Nursing.
As a small operation, Duke University Medical Center Archives does not have a dedicated R&D staff, Russell Koonts, DUMCA Director & Archivist explains. "Electronic project development has progressed slowly as we have struggled to create secure, user-friendly applications for our clientele. Being able to shift our focus to creating and collecting electronic content, without sacrificing our clientele's need for access and security, will significantly increase the rate at which we are able to grow our electronic resources."
"We are deeply honored to add another prestigious institution, like Duke University to the VITAL customer list," said Dr. Vinod Chachra, President and CEO of VTLS.
