Old Brookville, NY, December 15 , 2006 — The Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC) has chosen to implement a WebFeat Enterprise Edition federated search solution. The ICCOC consists of seven partner colleges with fourteen library locations running four different library information systems. WebFeat Enterprise Edition is a custom configurable, federated search solution that addresses every unique need of multi-library networks looking to implement federated search solutions, including resource compatibility, multi-site authentication, profiling and usage tracking.

"Librarians at all ICCOC partner colleges have for several years provided interlibrary loan services. However, for library patrons, searching for materials across all libraries has been difficult if not impossible," said Steve Rheinschmidt, Director Iowa Community College Online Consortium. Enter WebFeat Enterprise Edition. WebFeat is compatible with each partner college's collection of electronic resources and WebFeat enables ICCOC users to simultaneously search across their member library's databases. In addition, users can simultaneously search across the catalog holdings for each partner institution despite the fact that ICCOC members use four different ILS providers. "Librarians are interested in enhancing service through federated searching," added Rheinschmidt. "WebFeat provided the best solution."

WebFeat Enterprise Edition supports all major site authentication methods, including IP and referrer URL, solving the challenge of discrete multi-library identification and authentication into the federated system. With WebFeat Enterprise Edition, ICCOC has the ability to set up an infinite number of profiles. Profiles for each ICCOC member library may include different database lists and authentication credentials—even completely different interface looks and feels customized and branded for each institution. And, remarkably, the Enterprise Edition of WebFeat's SMART usage tracker can report enterprise-wide usage as well as usage for each individual ICCOC member library.

The seven community colleges in the ICCOC partnership are Eastern Iowa Community College, Iowa Lakes Community College, Iowa Western Community College, Northwest Iowa Community College, Southeastern Community College, Southwestern Community College, and Western Iowa Tech Community College. Todd Miller, President of WebFeat commented, "We are pleased to partner with the Iowa Community College Online Consortium to provide a WebFeat Enterprise Edition federated search solution that enhances services across the network, yet still meets the unique needs of each partner library."
