Old Brookville, NY, November 14, 2006— The Santa Rosa County Library System (Florida) has launched a WebFeat Express federated search solution. With WebFeat Express, Library patrons can now simultaneously search more than 40 electronic resources—including the Library catalog, several Florida-specific resources and thousands of newspapers, magazines and journals representing millions of pages of content. WebFeat Express can be accessed from within any of the Santa Rosa County community libraries, or it may be accessed remotely with a valid library ID via the Library's website (http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries/index.html).
"One of our top service priorities is to ensure that our citizens are aware of the wealth of resources we have available for them and to make these resources easily accessible in the library and through remote access via our website," said Linda Hendrix, Library Director, Santa Rosa County Library System. "WebFeat is a tool that makes our resources easy to search and use." Prior to implementing WebFeat users would need to search individual databases one at a time.
WebFeat enables patrons to search multiple resources by selecting one or more of 34 subject categories custom configured by Library staff. The categories are pre-populated with databases selected by the Library staff that are relevant to the topic being searched. "Click the box beside 'Genealogy,' for example, and WebFeat will search the 4 most relevant resources for that subject," explains Natasha Godwin, Library Coordinator - Special Services, Santa Rosa County Library. "WebFeat will help our customers choose which E-Resources to search to meet their research needs."
Added, Hendrix, "WebFeat will help users search many resources at the same time, yet still focus their research on resources that are relevant to their topic. We are excited about adding this ease of use feature and believe this will make all of our e-resources more available to our citizens."
Todd Miller, President of WebFeat, said, "WebFeat is pleased to partner with Santa Rosa County Library System to improve patron access to the Library's electronic resources, and in turn, help the Library to maximize its e-resources investment."
