Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that the Petroleum Resource Center (PRC) at PETRONAS, Malaysia's national petroleum corporation, will use a complement of Innovative technologies to serve company employees. The Resource Center has selected the Millennium integrated library technology platform, Electronic Resource Management, and the Symposia digital repository to build a complete Web library.
The PRC is a network of academic, special, and research libraries that is currently upgrading its services. "We are redefining the library through our digital library initiative, PRECISE (an acronym for Petroleum Resource Center & Information Services)," says Azahar Mohd Noor, Head of the PRC. "We're delighted to be working with Innovative on a key part of this project. Innovative's expertise, coupled with our own, will enable us to achieve this aim."
"The PRECISE website will be enabled by Millennium, Electronic Resource Management, and Symposia to provide more unified access to our increasingly digital collections. The partnership with Innovative is not only about technology, but is also about delivering a great experience for users accessing our collections. "
In addition to the print and electronic access provided by Millennium and the Innovative ERM, Symposia will serve as a digital repository for the information the company produces from the standards, marketing, documentation, legal, and research departments. Says Azahar: "We are information and knowledge aggregators. Our role is to provide effective information services that nurture learning and generate new knowledge. Symposia will help us do this." The digital repository will use open standards, allowing the PRC to adapt to future shifts in storage, preservation, and access technologies.
"Innovative is very pleased to be entering into this partnership with such a prominent organization as PETRONAS, " says Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales Aaron Blazer. "Their contributions to the special library community and their commitment to knowledge and learning are noteworthy. We are confident that this will be a productive and positive experience for both of our organizations."
The PRC is migrating from BASIS TechLib Plus maintained by the Open Text Corporation.
