Abstract: California State University, Fresno has selected Millennium to serve as their integrated library technology platform. The Henry Madden Library is replacing a Geac ADVANCE system provided by Extensity, Inc.

Emeryville, CA—California State University (CSU), Fresno has selected Millennium to serve as their integrated library technology platform. The Henry Madden Library is replacing a Geac ADVANCE system provided by Extensity, Inc.

"The new Millennium system will increase the efficiency of library staff," says Library Automation Coordinator Hye Ok Park, "Inventory Express is a 'must have' item for acquisitions staff. Comparing availability of books between vendors without going to another system and being able to track the performance of these vendors are critical."

The Library was also looking for a reliable company to help them meet technology challenges long-term. "Innovative's resource commitment to research and development and the company's financial solidity are impressive," says Park. "We're also pleased to be part of the world-wide community of Innovative customers in 44 countries."

Says Michael Gorman, Dean of Library Services: "I have every confidence that Millennium will provide us with the comprehensive, up-to-date functionality we need. It will help us maintain the optimum use of technology in service to our library's users, as well as take advantage of progress in digitization and other technologies."

Milestones in the Library's History

"The selection of Millennium is one of three major changes that represent a big step forward for us," says Park. "Over the next two years we will also complete the largest RFID-tagging project in the nation and move into a new, $93-million library building in late 2008." During construction of the new building, students and faculty will still be able to make direct online-catalog requests for books from their off-site storage facility after installation of the Millennium system.

The Library has also selected Millennium Media for multimedia integration and External Patron Verification (LDAP), which allows students and faculty to log on to library services with the same password used for other e-campus functions.
