Abstract: The Law Library at Texas Tech University School of Law has selected the Millennium integrated library technology platform. The Library serves over 700 students at the School of Law, practicing lawyers and other community patrons as well as students at Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.

Emeryville CA—The Law Library at Texas Tech University School of Law has selected the Millennium integrated library technology platform to meet the challenges of an academic law library environment. The Library serves over 700 students at the School of Law, practicing lawyers and other community patrons as well as students at Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.

The right kind of technical processing tools are critical in a law library setting. "Millennium will give us the premier serials module available," Says Christy Ryan, Head of Technical Services and Collection Development. "Because tracking the supplementation of legal sources is critical for researchers, it's important to add loose pages or library-only material without having to create records for each one. We also have more flexibility because holdings records are not limited to MARC format."

Millennium was also the ideal choice for serving an academic library community. Says Christy: "WebPAC Pro was the most intuitive and easiest to use and understand of the products we saw. We'll also be able to create custom bibliographies for faculty within its online-catalog environment. And with Global Update, we'll be able to quickly change or delete records and have this information reflected for patrons in real-time."

Texas Tech University School of Law also selected External Patron Verification which leverages LDAP technology to allow students and faculty to log in to library services with the same password they use elsewhere on the University's website.
