Experienced ILS technical manager Eric Graham one of three new staff hired to support system implementations and sales

Abstract: Polaris Library Systems announced its second increase in staffing in less than two months. The new staff will support customers with technical expertise and product enhancements. The company also announced a restructuring in customer operations to better meet the growing demand for rapid system implementation, data migration and training, especially for those libraries selecting the Hosted version of the Polaris Integrated Library System.


SYRACUSE, New York, July 25, 2006- Polaris Library Systems, the leader in providing technology tools that enhance staff productivity and increase patron service, announced today its second increase in staffing in less than two months. The new staff will support customers with technical expertise and product enhancements. The company also announced a restructuring in customer operations to better meet the growing demand for rapid system implementation, data migration and training, especially for those libraries selecting the Hosted version of the Polaris Integrated Library System.

Eric Graham Assumes New Position of Custom Services Developer

Graham brings to Polaris extensive experience working in and providing technical assistance to libraries. Most recently he served as Product Manager for EBSCO Publishing with responsibility for specific areas of EBSCOhost software functionality including authentication, industry standard conformance and reporting requirements. His experience with integrated library systems includes technical product manager at SirsiDynix and senior library consultant at Dynix. His direct experience working in libraries includes technology librarian at Greater Manchester Integrated Library Cooperative System (NH), assistant director for technology services at Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MA), library systems coordinator/systems librarian at Cambridge Public Library (MA) and library systems operator at Brandeis University Libraries (MA). He also served as Technical Coordinator at NELINET, the regional service provider for libraries in New England.

Graham's initial projects at Polaris Library Systems will focus on increasing the robustness of Polaris' reporting and SQL capabilities, as well as assisting in the design and implementation of streamlined system migration processes and procedures. "Eric brings with him a wealth of experience from the perspectives of an ILS user, administrator and vendor. He knows firsthand the challenges of being a system administrator. With his extensive expertise in SQL and in designing reporting modules for libraries, Eric will be a key contributor to our expanded focus on reporting," said Brad Rogers, director of implementation services.

Brad Rogers to Head New Implementation Services Department

Rogers joined Polaris Library Systems in December 1999 as the Polaris Library Systems Project Manager. As director of customer operations he has emphasized developing and implementing processes for improved customer communication, proactive support processes, continuously improving customer support response time and accuracy, optimizing implementation speed and quality, and achieving 100% customer satisfaction. In his new role as director of implementation services he will coordinate activities related to system implementation, data migration and training to ensure a smooth transition for new customers. Polaris site managers and technicians will continue to report to Kellie Conner, manager of Polaris customer operations. Donna McGregor continues as the manager of GALAXY customer operations.

Kathryn Spier-Miller Hired as Director of Marketing

Spier-Miller comes to Polaris Library Systems with a Master of Science Degree, Library and Information Science (Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York) and fourteen years of marketing experience. From 1996 until 2004 she worked for Marsh Inc, a leading risk & insurance brokerage firm in various marketing capacities, including Senior Vice President, Marketing, Most recently she was Vice President, Client Services for the Syracuse-based advertising agency, Pinckney Hugo Group, where she has served as Polaris Library Systems' account manager for the past six months. While completing her Masters in Library and Information Science she gained research and reference experience at the Ferguson Library and two law libraries in Stamford, Connecticut.

Elizabeth (Anderson) Race Rejoins the Polaris Family

With products such as Wireless Access Manager and Motion Tablet PCs, Polaris Library Systems is increasing its services for non-ILS customers. To assist libraries in understanding the benefits of purchasing from Polaris Library Systems, Race has returned to Polaris where she will be contacting libraries to understand their technology needs. As an employee of Gaylord Bros. (the former parent company of Polaris Library Systems) from 1997-1999, Race (then Liz Anderson) was responsible for providing support to customers using the GALAXY and Polaris automation systems and assisting them to develop a technology plan.
