June 26, 2006. Extensity announced today the development of its ERMS (Electronic Resources Management System) product that will be available for release in the first quarter of 2007. The ERMS product will enable libraries to efficiently manage the life cycle of their electronic resources such as selection, evaluation, purchase, description, maintenance, renewal, cancellation and access management. With its ERMS, Extensity expands its service offerings to include the management of e-journals, e-packages, e-books, full text databases, Web sites and more.

The new ERM product is based on the 47 functional requirements set forth by the Digital Library Federation Electronic Resource Management Initiative (ERMI) (http://www.diglib.org/standards/dlf-erm02.htm). The ERMI requirements incorporate an extensive conceptual data structure for the management of electronic resources, as well as a workflow model.

The ERM product will be available as a stand-alone product and can also be integrated in the Extensity suite of library management solutions. As such, the product will be linked to the Vubis Smart ILS (e.g. for purchasing details) and the Vlink OpenURL Resolver (through Web Services). The ERM application has a Web Interface and is integrated with e-mail and document management functionality.

"The new ERM product will further enhance our product portfolio," says Eric van Lubeek, Managing Director Extensity Libraries. "Our portfolio includes a library management system, a link generator, portal software, a digital collection management solution and, in the near future, also an ERM product. Our customers can now rely on Extensity for all their information management needs."

The ERM product is in an advanced stage of development with its release scheduled for the first quarter of 2007.
