Emeryville, CA—The Palmdale City Library has selected the Millennium integrated library technology platform to provide easy-to-use, Web-based services to its patrons. The Library is replacing a Dynix Classic system provided by SirsiDynix, Inc.
"Our biggest reason for selecting Millennium was its clean and intuitive functionality for library users," says City Librarian Nancy Quelland. "Our philosophy is to empower the user as much as possible and I expect the new system will do this."
As part of the Millennium implementation, the Library will offer its patrons the My Millennium personalization suite that allows self-service book requesting and tracking, as well as updating home- and email-address information. To further increase self-service for its Web patrons, the Library has purchased two additional modules that fully integrate with the Millennium online catalog: Ecommerce for fine and fee payment, and Online Patron Registration for library card sign-up.
Ease of use was also a key deciding factor for the library staff who will be using Millennium to organize materials and present them on the Web. Says Quelland: "We needed something that would work from day one, out of the box, and that would not need a lot of the tweaking and constant troubleshooting."
