The latest component to the Amsterdam Public Library AquaBrowser implementation has officially gone live. 'Muziekweb' is now available to any Amsterdam Public Library member. With 300,000 CDs, over 300,000 LPs and more than 10,000 music-DVDs, 'Muziekweb' is the largest collection of music in Europe. This collection is belongs to the 'Centrale Discotheek Rotterdam' (CDR), physically located in the Rotterdam Public Library. The service is available to the entire public community; however, this is the first time that such a collection has ever been integrated right into a library catalog search through AquaBrowser Library. AquaBrowser Library allows the user to 'discover' new music using the associations, or 'refine' the results to get the exact item they are looking for.

Like most libraries, Amsterdam Public Library offers a vast collection of recorded and sheet music to the local community. Now in a single search a user can get direct results from one of the vastest collections of recorded music in a single search. It is very simple to use: perform a search for an artist, song or album title. You can choose to refine to see only results from Muziekweb, or browse through the library's home collection as well. There are now over 5,000 albums that are digitally available for download. It's free, legal and effortless!

This newest added feature of AquaBrowser Library at Amsterdam Public Library was officially launched by Amsterdam Library Director, Hans van Velzen, local Dutch authors, Jules Deelder and Bart Chabot, and music columnist, Metha Molenaar, with a special presentation from the CDR Director, Michiel Laan . The press conference launching 'Muziekweb' through AquaBrowser Library was hosted by the Radio Station 'Amsterdam FM' personalities Dhoya Snijders and Aren van Muijen, who together host the daily live morning show, "Amsterdam is waking up!" on location at the main library.

Amsterdam Public Library has the most advanced form of AquaBrowser Library -- which connects to any database (Open Archive repositories, SQL databases), spider search in to any document collection, and a Federated search module to connect to any external resource the library subscribes to, not to mention the Muziekweb collection.
