Abstract: Sisis Informationssysteme and Fretwell-Downing Informatics have changed their names to OCLC PICA. Having integrated a large part of back office operations, the three companies have now come together as one under the name OCLC PICA.

Sisis Informationssysteme and Fretwell-Downing Informatics have changed their names to OCLC PICA. Having integrated a large part of back office operations, the three companies have now come together as one under the name OCLC PICA. "I trust that the ‘new' OCLC PICA will continue to have all the good things from old as well as benefiting from those of the newly integrated companies. I see this as a great opportunity and am confident that our customers will be even more pleased with our product and service offerings" said Rein van Charldorp, OCLC PICA Managing Director.

OCLC PICA's rationale behind the acquisition of Sisis and FDI in June and November 2005 was to serve customers better, faster and more efficiently by leveraging the joint resources of all three companies. This has already been proven to be the case with a number of successes that were only possible thanks to the cooperation of all three. Recent successes include a contract for the delivery of portals to Bibsys (Norway) and an agreement for the delivery of a national UK resource sharing service to The Combined Regions (UK).

By further integrating the operational parts of the organisations that formed OCLC PICA, Sisis and FDI, the ‘new' OCLC PICA will deliver on its promise of bringing more benefits to the customer. We have already started the common development of new solutions such as Identification Management; and the integration of CONTENTdm with some of our ILS and portal solutions. In addition, we are able to provide better local support and more product and solutions offerings. However some things will not change: our highest standards of quality will remain the same and the current product lines and services will continue to be supported.

As a joint company, it is our mission to further access to, and preservation of, the world's cultural and intellectual resources through a long-term commitment to innovation, collaboration and standards.

As a celebration of the ‘new' OCLC PICA we have adopted a new company logo and have a new look and feel as can be seen on this website.
