INWOOD, WV, April 11, 2006 – The Library Corporation (TLC) and Medialab Solutions have expanded their partnership under a new agreement that allows TLC to sell AquaBrowser Library in additional countries.
Under the new agreement, TLC is the exclusive distributor of AquaBrowser Library in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the Philippines. Created by Medialab Solutions BV in The Netherlands, AquaBrowser Library is a visually-based search engine that invites library patrons to search, discover, and refine in the library's catalog.
TLC first partnered with Medialab Solutions to sell AquaBrowser in 2004. In 2005, TLC became the exclusive distributor of AquaBrowser in the United States and in Canada.
The creation of this latest agreement is the result of the product's success in the United States. The new agreement is especially beneficial for libraries abroad, because TLC serves hundreds of library customers in Asia Pacific from its office in Singapore.
As with the original agreement for United States sales, AquaBrowser Library will be available to TLC libraries and to libraries using other vendors' integrated library systems. AquaBrowser Library easily integrates with any library system -- attractive to libraries that want to update their technological offerings without migrating from their current integrated library system.
The latest version of AquaBrowser, Version 2.0, offers even more for patrons. AquaBrowser Library 2.0 "opens" the library's collection by enabling searches in the collection, databases, selected Web sites, federated search in external sources and much more. The new design elements in AquaBrowser Library 2.0 also make this the most user-friendly version yet.
"This will be a milestone for our companies and more importantly for these
libraries. The original partnership agreement was such a success that it makes perfect sense to expand this agreement to more regions," Medialab Solutions CEO Bastiaan Zwaan commented.
TLC CEO Annette Murphy said, "Our partnership with Medialab has been a strong and successful one. We are pleased to extend our agreement to enable even more libraries to benefit from AquaBrowser Library, supported by the strengths both companies offer the library market. This new agreement gives any library the ability to take advantage of AquaBrowser Library, which is such a fresh and exciting approach to the library OPAC."
