Blacksburg, VA – The membership of VIEWS has grown with the addition of Endeavor Information Systems as a founding member. VIEWS is an initiative by vendors and library service organizations for the enabling of web services between disparate applications used in libraries.
"We are very pleased to welcome Endeavor to our membership" said Carl Grant, Chairperson of VIEWS, "and we look forward to their contributions in helping VIEWS create new levels of interoperability between disparate applications serving the library and e-learning communities. We recognize that having the membership of VIEWS grow is important to the communities we serve and we look forward to using the expertise and efforts of new members in accelerating the work of the group."
"Endeavor has employed web services in developing our Voyager and ENCompass systems and we have considerable expertise in providing interoperability between our systems and those of other technology providers," said Verne Coppi, Endeavor Vice-President of Development. "As a part of VIEWS, Endeavor will look forward to developing even more open solutions with our peers. Endeavor continues to support web services as the optimal architecture to develop over a networked infrastructure."
The work of the VIEWS group has already begun with the first meeting held July 22, 2004. Information from the meetings will be posted on the NISO (www.niso.org) website.
