Emeryville, CA—Innovative today welcomed Coutts Information Services to the group of book vendors supporting Inventory Express, a tool that allows library staff to select books faster and easier than ever before. With the addition of Coutts, a worldwide library supply company with customers in over 100 countries, Inventory Express now provides real-time Web Services-based connections to five content vendors including Amazon.com, Baker & Taylor, BWI, and Ingram Book Group.

With a single click, library staff now can search Coutts' database of over 8 million items from within Millennium Acquisitions to find a specific title, check the library catalog for duplicates, download pricing and availability information, and obtain the information necessary to create a database record. This reduces a several-step process to just one step, saving staff time and letting them focus on important selection decisions. Innovative has made this possible by designing Inventory Express as an integrated component of Millennium that harnesses Web Services, an advanced XML technology, for real-time information exchange over the Web.

"The addition of Coutts to Inventory Express is critical because of the depth and breadth of its offerings, and the great usefulness of the service to customers worldwide," says Ted Fons, Senior Product Manager at Innovative. "With Coutts' participation, many more of our customers will be able to take advantage of Inventory Express."

Coutts Information Services IT Director, Steve Brewer, remarks, "Inventory Express adds yet another dimension for Coutts OASIS users to leverage our rich online application and information. This is easily achieved through leading-edge Web Services technology. Our entire OASIS product team is committed to providing superior selection and acquisition tools to streamline the workflow at the library."
