Jeffersonville Township Public Library selects Vubis Smart

Abstract: Jeffersonville Township Public Library in Indiana recently selected the Vubis Smart library automation system from Geac.


January 23rd 2006. The selection of Vubis Smart by Jeffersonville Township Public Library (http://jefferson.lib.in.us/) signifies the continuing growth of Vubis Smart in the United States and the product's growing appeal with public libraries.

The Jeffersonville Township Public Library employs approximately 45 people in two libraries that serve a population of 57,000 people in Clark County (IN) and the Louisville (KY) metropolitan area. The Library's rich collection comprises nearly 180,000 titles and includes approximately 215,000 items. The Library plans to inaugurate a new 47,000 sq. ft facility in May 2006 that will feature an exceptional architectural design including two interior waterfalls and a rooftop terrace.

The system incorporates convenient workflows and easy-to-use administrative tools. Staff can define multiple formats, databases, indexes, search methods and more. Distinctive rules and parameters may be defined to meet the requirements of individual branches and locations. Users can simultaneously search multiple databases, link to subscription resources and customize the Web OPAC for appearance, language and search results. Unique Web OPAC features include ‘Fuzzy Logic', ‘Associative Searching', Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) and customized news feeds (RSS).
