Abstract: Auto-Graphics announced the availability of a Web service interface to the complete family of AGent products. This web based enterprise application uses open, XML-based standards and transport protocols to facilitate the exchange of data between the Company’s AGent technology platform with other client applications, thus allowing for the presentation of information in a unified interface. Web services addresses the needs of thousands of libraries that have invested in a variety of vendor automation products but struggle to make them all fit in a seamless and integrated manner.

POMONA, CA. — October 11, 2005— Auto-Graphics, Inc. (AUGR.PK) is proud to announce the availability of a Web service interface to the complete family of AGent products. This web based enterprise application uses open, XML-based standards and transport protocols to facilitate the exchange of data between the Company's AGent technology platform with other client applications, thus allowing for the presentation of information in a unified interface. Web services addresses the needs of thousands of libraries that have invested in a variety of vendor automation products but struggle to make them all "fit" in a seamless and integrated manner.

With Auto-Graphics' Web services, customers are now able to write an Application Programming Interface (API) to customize the user interface or "front end" according to their own preferences and specifications, while utilizing the AGent technology platform as their backend infrastructure to "quarterback" the various library automation functions. Libraries that are interested in the AGent technology but are concerned with integration and multiple user interface issues will benefit greatly from the Web services model. Libraries can integrate new Auto-Graphics solutions – resource sharing, portal, federated search, cataloging, digital collections – with existing technologies while maintaining their current user interfaces and workflow. Other ILS systems or automation solutions can be plugged directly into the AGent platform. The customer's application then pulls data from the AGent platform and displays it in a manner specified by the library using Web services. AGent can be adapted to integrate with numerous applications or automation devices in the library industry.

Auto-Graphics is an Affiliate Member of the Vendor Initiative to Enable Web Services (VIEWS) committee and has taken a leading role in transforming theory into practical applications of this technology. The Web services model is a natural evolution of the Company's work with federated search technology and the amalgamation of disparate electronic resources into a unified display. The concept is the same – pull data from a variety of authoritative sources and present the results in a unified method according to the user's specifications.

"Auto-Graphics is excited to offer a working application of this new technology to the library community. Web services and the AGent platform provide endless possibilities for libraries and their patrons. The vision of delivering "full service" patron information needs from multiple sources under one convenient user interface is now closer to reality with Web services," commented Albert Flores, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Auto-Graphics.

Founded in 1950, Auto-Graphics provides a broad range of library services, including resource sharing and portal software services to create, manage, publish, and access information using the Internet. Auto-Graphics has played a leading role for over 50 years in turning the rapid technological developments into advanced products and services that are currently used by more than 10,000 libraries in North America.
