Abstract: Polaris Library Systems introduced the Motion Tablet PC and a Touch Screen Monitor. The two new time-saving hardware solutions are ILS-independent and are available for purchase by any library.

Syracuse, NY - October 4, 2005 Polaris Library Systems introduced the Motion Tablet PC and a Touch Screen Monitor to its customers at the 4th annual meeting of the Polaris Users Group held in Syracuse, NY September 13-15. The two new time-saving hardware solutions are ILS-independent and are available for purchase by any library. The Motion Tablet PC is available in two sizes.

The Motion Tablet PC can be used with any integrated library system to facilitate inventory management, update holds on screen when they are pulled, eliminate waiting at the circulation desk with a "roving" circulation station, and serve patrons anywhere throughout the library, not just at fixed workstations.

The Touch Screen Monitor provides an easy-to-use alternative to mouse-driven check in and check out, reducing mouse usage and the potential for repetitive stress injuries. The monitor features large text and is easy to learn and to use.

Motion LS800 Tablet PC includes:

  • Windows XP Tablet Edition
  • 256 MB Memory
