Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that it will begin offering a suite of content and metadata delivery products called the Content Access Service (CASE). In addition to the Coverage Data Service the company announced earlier this year, CASE will provide a portfolio of offerings including a MARC Record Service and a Web-based Profile Manager. Together, these services will simplify library administration of e-resources and ensure that patrons get the most comprehensive and easy-to-use digital library available. CASE will be available to Innovative customers using integrated information discovery tools such as Electronic Resource Management, the Millennium library management system, and the WebBridge smart-linking solution.

The Coverage Data Service provides title, ISBN, and date range information appropriate to the e-resources a given library uses. This kind of accurate information from a trusted source makes administration by staff easier and guarantees successful patron searches whether through the online catalog or the Innovative ERM portal. This service will also provide a "ready to post" A to Z journal title list so patrons can get another way to access e-journals with minimal staff effort.

The CASE MARC Record Service, scheduled for early 2006, will enhance patron access to e-resources by providing in-depth, pre-cataloged information for any e-serial a library offers. This service will be an efficient way to represent the full breadth of a library's digital sources on the online catalog so patron searches are more successful and staff don't have to catalog each and every e-resource title individually.

Also scheduled for the first part of 2006, the CASE Profile Manager will make it easy for libraries to create their particular profile of e-resources through an easy-to-use Web based tool.

Early implementers of CASE include the University of Colorado at Boulder, the National University of Singapore, and Scottsdale Public Library System.
