Abstract: Dynix announced that a consortium of eight universities in Jordan have selected a comprehensive suite of integrated library management software from Dynix for their libraries.

PROVO, Utah—June 27, 2005 - Dynix announced today that a consortium of eight universities in Jordan have selected a comprehensive suite of integrated library management software from Dynix for their libraries. The contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Arabian Advanced Systems, CEB and Dynix, by the Kingdom of Jordan's Higher Education Development Project (HEDP).

Following an extensive and detailed evaluation of the Horizon integrated library system, several related add-on products and the current developments being undertaken by Dynix, the universities will be carrying out data conversion and pilot implementation work on Horizon 7.4 during 2005 and will be going live on the new academic library system, Corinthian 8.0 running on an Oracle database, in March 2006.

After two years of evaluation of different systems, the Higher Education Development Project in Jordan selected the software proposed by Dynix as the system that best fits all the requirements of the union catalog and library management systems for the eight Jordanian public universities; University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, Mu'tah University, Al al-Bayt University, Hashemite University, JUST University, Al-Hussein University and Balqa University. The library committee of the Higher Education Development Project conducted an extensive pre-bidding evaluation, during which they visited several libraries who use different ILS systems in many Arabic countries. Based on their review of a wide range of systems and vendors, the HEDP released a comprehensive Invitation for Bids based on the World Bank standard. A further round of evaluation and site visits was conducted by the committee prior to awarding the project to Dynix, AAS and CEB.

"We are very proud of this award. It was one of the most thorough and comprehensive evaluations we have experienced. The bid technical requirements, and the implementation and project management requirements were very demanding, and we are very pleased to be selected. This testifies to our solutions and capabilities, and comes as a result of our team's dedication and efforts toward making the best Arabic library automation system" said Al Abduljabbar, AAS President.

Jack Blount, Dynix CEO and President, commented "The Corinthian 8.0 solution is based on hundreds of man-hours of valuable input from academic libraries like these Jordanian universities. The consortia's implementation will include Corinthian, Digital Library, Consolidated Searching, Electronic Resource Management, and many other components of our portfolio of library management software." Blount continued, "We are proud to have been selected for this important project, and expect the system to be a global showcase for the latest and most advanced information technology in the library world."
