Birmingham -- 23rd June 2005. Rhondda Cynon Taf Library Service has chosen Talis Alto to support the many libraries it runs across the authority. The Library Service believes that using Alto, plus a raft of other Talis products, including Talis Mobile, Talis Prism and Talis Base, will enable it to reach even more of the community it serves across its broad area.
This is possible because using Talis Alto will enable the many transactions that library employees undertake each day to be completed faster and more efficiently, giving library staff more time to spend offering a better service to customers. For Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, which has more libraries than any other Welsh Authority, it means a valuable opportunity to reach more of the 100,000 borrowers it serves through the multiple service points in its 29 libraries. Plus, by introducing Talis Mobile, Rhondda Cynon Taf will also be able to offer these benefits to its 4 mobile libraries, Schools Library Service and authority-wide housebound service.
Rhondda Cynon Taf will also be able to interact even more effectively with its many citizens thanks to the first bilingual version of Talis Prism. Created in association with Talis partner, Telnet, this OPAC will be available in either Welsh or English.
Gill Evans, Head of Libraries and Museums at Rhondda Cynon Taf said: “We were looking for a new system to help improve frontline services to customers and also to increase our ‘back room' efficiency. Talis demonstrated the best understanding of our particular needs. It's is a very up-to-date system, which is flexible and provides an excellent platform for new innovations in the years to come."
